IUI
IUI – INTRA-UTERINE INSEMINATION
Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) is a fertility procedure where specially prepared sperm are directly inserted into a woman’s uterus using a catheter after careful ovulation monitoring or induction. This treatment is often recommended for issues like poor sperm motility or unexplained infertility.
When is IUI recommended?
IUI may be advised for milder infertility cases, where enhancing the interaction between sperm and egg can lead to successful fertilization.
Mild Infertility Issues
If the male partner has low sperm count, decreased sperm motility, or abnormalities in sperm morphology (shape), IUI can help by bypassing some of the barriers that sperm face in reaching and fertilizing the egg.
Low Sperm Quality
When the male partner has difficulty sustaining an erection or ejaculating semen into the vagina due to conditions like retrograde ejaculation or erectile dysfunction
Erection or Ejaculation Issues
Cervical mucus plays a crucial role in fertility as it helps sperm travel through the cervix and into the uterus and fallopian tubes to reach the egg for fertilization. In case woman is not producing enough mucus or when mucus is too thick, resisting sperm motility, IUI can be done to bypass the cervix and place the mucus directly into uterus
Cervical Problems
When a couple has been trying to conceive without using protection for a significant period of time without success and no specific cause for infertility has been detected in the fertility tests, IUI may be recommended as first resort.
Unexplained Infertility
Same sex women couples or a woman without a male partner may choose donor sperm to conceive using IUI treatment. The donor sperm used is from ART certified and registered sperm which has been tested for quality.

Ovulation Stimulation
Medications are used to stimulate ovulation, ensuring the maturity of follicles.
Ovulation is monitored using ultrasound scans of the endometrium and frequent blood tests to measure hormone levels and determine the best time for ovulation.
When follicles are mature, an hCG injection induces egg release.
The male partner provides a sperm sample.
The sperm sample is processed in the lab to separate and concentrate the motile sperm.
The prepared sperm is placed into the uterus using a sterile catheter after egg release. The process is quick and simple.
STEP 03.
Checking for Pregnancy
Around 10-14 days after timed intercourse, a pregnancy test is performed to confirm if implantation occurred and pregnancy has begun. If positive, prenatal care starts to monitor the pregnancy.
