Endometrial Rejuvenation (PRP)
WHAT IS ENDOMETRIAL REJUVENATION (PRP)
Endometrial Rejuvenation using PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a regenerative fertility treatment designed to improve the thickness, quality, and receptivity of the uterine lining (endometrium). A healthy endometrium is essential for successful embryo implantation and pregnancy.
PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood and is rich in growth factors that promote tissue repair, regeneration, and improved blood flow to the uterus.
At Freya Fertility, PRP therapy is used as an advanced supportive treatment for patients with thin endometrium or repeated implantation failure, helping create an optimal environment for embryo implantation.
PRP therapy is beneficial for patients who:
- Have thin endometrial lining (<7 mm)
- Have recurrent implantation failure (RIF)
- Have repeated IVF failures
- Have poor endometrial receptivity
- Have uterine damage due to infection, surgery, or TB
- Have Asherman’s syndrome (intrauterine adhesions)
WHAT IS PRP AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a concentrated form of platelets obtained from the patient’s own blood. Platelets contain growth factors such as VEGF, PDGF, and TGF that stimulate tissue repair and regeneration.
When PRP is introduced into the uterine cavity:
- It promotes endometrial cell growth and regeneration
- Improves blood supply to the uterine lining
- Enhances endometrial thickness and structure
- Supports better embryo implantation
- Reduces inflammation and improves uterine health
Initial Evaluation & Case Review
A detailed assessment is done to understand the cause of thin endometrium or implantation failure. This includes ultrasound to measure endometrial thickness, review of previous IVF cycles, and evaluation of uterine health.
Blood Collection
A small amount of the patient’s blood (usually 10–20 ml) is drawn under sterile conditions, similar to a routine blood test.
PRP Preparation (Centrifugation Process)
The collected blood is processed in a centrifuge machine, which spins at high speed to separate its components. This process isolates platelet-rich plasma from red blood cells and other components, concentrating growth factors essential for tissue regeneration.
PRP Infusion into Uterus
The prepared PRP is carefully introduced into the uterine cavity using a thin, soft catheter. The procedure is similar to an embryo transfer It is usually painless and does not require anesthesia Takes only a few minutes
Post-Procedure Observation
The patient may rest briefly after the procedure and can usually resume normal activities the same day.
Endometrial Monitoring
Follow-up ultrasounds are performed over the next few days to assess improvement in endometrial thickness and vascularity (blood flow).
Repeat PRP Sessions (If Needed)
Depending on the response, 1–2 additional PRP infusions may be performed within the same cycle or subsequent cycles to achieve optimal results.
Embryo Transfer Planning
Once the endometrium reaches an optimal thickness (generally ≥7–8 mm) and shows good receptivity, embryo transfer is scheduled.
Luteal Support & Pregnancy Monitoring
After embryo transfer, hormonal support is provided, and a pregnancy test is conducted after 10–14 days, followed by continuous monitoring.

FAQs
What is PRP therapy in fertility?
It is a treatment where platelet-rich plasma is used to improve the uterine lining for better implantation.
Is PRP safe?
Yes, since it uses the patient’s own blood, it is considered safe with minimal risk.
Who should consider PRP therapy?
Patients with thin endometrium, repeated IVF failures, or implantation issues.
How many PRP sessions are required?
It depends on individual response, but usually 1–2 sessions are sufficient.
Does PRP guarantee pregnancy?
It improves chances but does not guarantee success, as multiple factors affect fertility.
